On November 24, while my American friends were celebrating Thanksgiving, I was hosting my bridal shower in Brazil.
Although I'm getting married in Boston, Massachusetts, most of my friends and family reside in my hometown Porto Alegre. Hosting the shower there was very meaningful to me, as I could include folks who wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding.
The venue chosen was a restaurant and event space close to my parents' house - Le Bistrot.
Le Bistrot was a very convenient place to pick as it is pretty by itself - I did not have to worry about rentals, lighting, draping, etc. Because the restaurant was one of my favorite places to go while living in Brazil, having the shower there was also special.
To decorate the space I used white and blue chinoiserie, and crystal and silver elements. White orchids and greenery completed the look. The decor paired nicely with the rustic-chic environment.
Obviously I had to include Vie de Vic paper goodies (otherwise what a bad marketer I would be!). Thank you cards that paired perfectly with the bridal shower invitations were placed on the tables along with fabric flowers napkin rings. Bridesmaids got a paper mobile featuring the painting of a chandelier, a short message and their initials in wood. I wanted the stationery details to be very delicate.
The menu was simple yet delicious and consisted of mainly finger foods such as croque monsieur sandwiches and caprese bruschettas. White wine sangria and fresh juice were served to the invitees. For dessert, besides the cake, my beautiful maid of honor Lara ordered "palhas italianas" - a dessert made of brigadeiro and biscuits - from a local vendor, and they were a big hit.
One of my very favorite details was the stunning cake inspired on the wedding invitation set - it even featured a plaque just like the one painted on the watercolor Save the Date. The cake was created by Lis Fonseca, who perfectly understood my idea and translated it beautifully. I mean, how perfect were its sugar flowers?
And last but not least, I can't thank the super professionals Roque Martins and Bibiana Terra enough for the makeover. Nothing like a beauty day to make a girl feel special.
Can't wait to meet everyone again in a few months at the wedding!
