When one of my best friends asked me to create watercolor paper goods for her dreamy wedding in Dijon, France, the excitement was so much that I started painting on that same night.
In the course of a year, we came up with a full watercolor wedding invitation suite, to include Save the Date, guest book, menus, place cards and even a booklet with the wedding agenda for all guests.
The bride wanted a whimsical, rustic style look to the watercolor paintings to balance with the bucolic but super elegant atmosphere of Abbaye de la Bussiere and the sophisticated classic wedding decor.
For the watercolor save the date and guest book, we used a watercolor painting of the abbey's buildings and gardens. Believe me - Abbaye de la Bussiere is the dreamiest place ever. The venue couldn't be more perfect for this artsy couple: she is an academic and a ballerina and he is a doctor and a professional musician. I mean.
The amazing photographer Andrea Sarlo captured the event perfectly. Here are a few for you to fall in love (and to wish you were in France!):
Watercolor menus, place cards and table numbers were added to the wonderful wedding tablescapes. Blomster Designs did an impeccable job as the bride's chosen florists. The white and cream blooms along with the candles, glassware and silverware brought sophistication to the beautiful dinner setting. Needless to say that the tasteful bride and Abbaye de la Bussiere coordinated every single wedding detail perfectly.
Yes, I strategically picked the flower arch photo to impress you a bit more before you leave. As if al the previous details weren't enough, right?
Thank you Julia and Joao for having me be a part of your beautiful big day (as a friend and watercolorist)!
